Being aware of the current environmental problems is not enough; its time to be a part of the solution and that time is now!
Numerous reports have stated that we, humans, have generated 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic since its inception in 1950. A material with a sole purpose of convenience has become a powerful weapon of destruction to other creatures whom we share this planet with. So, what do 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic looks like?
Why are we different ?
The Unbroken Circle aims to be a sustainable slice of paradise, with all practices leaning towards renewable efforts. By associating components such as solar powered-electricity, minimal trash production and organic features—from farming to lifestyle applications—we wish to create a mindful community that complements the circle of life: in its truest and most fulfilling sense.
The Sustainability Circle
The Unbroken Circle aspires to create sustainable livelihood programs for Corregidor island residents through percentage rewards and mentorship. With the help of local fishermen and farmers, everything consumed in the site will be sourced locally in the island, making it an informative way for guests to learn about the island’s main industries.
This is our way of mending the broken and crumbled pattern caused by neglectful human practices. This is our way to continue on the circular path that resonates with our true being. Every action matters no matter how big or small, and it all makes an impact to create the greater circle.
Trash segregation
Luckily, trash segregation is already a common practice in the island, and we wish to continue this habit. If the trash is properly segregated, recycling becomes easier. We provide separate bins for biodegradables (which goes to our compost or to our animals), plastics, and recyclable material.
Solar powered electricity
We take pride in incorporating clean energy at The Circle, Solar panels converts sunlight into electricity and its use provide many benefits, which include a significant reduction in costs. By using solar panels, no greenhouse gas emissions are released into the atmosphere, hence being the best alternative to using fossil fuels.
No single-use plastics
According to the UN Environment, 5 trillion single-use plastic bags are used each year. Our world is literally drowning in plastic waste, and the first solution is to change old habits. We discourage our guests to bring in any product wrapped in single-use plastics.
No plastic straws and bottles
Out of all the single-use plastic bottles purchased worldwide, 91 percent gets thrown out. Picture this: we produce 20,000 plastic bottles per second, 19,800 of which ending up in trash, each taking 450 years to decompose. We encourage our guests to refrain from purchasing single-use plastic drinkables. If you can, bring your own refillables, and if you can’t, we have refillable bottles available for purchase at The Circle. Not only is it a good souvenir, but it pushes you a step closer to sustainable, plastic-free lifestyle. Similarly, we only allow reusable bamboo or metal straws to go with our drinks.
Zero-waste food system
We need to eat to survive, and in order to perform this need responsibly, we have created a system that minimizes waste food during the process. An estimated 1.3 billion tonnes of food produced for human consumption gets wasted or lost. Consumerism is one of the perils of our race, and we aim to lessen this by promoting an ideal that we should only consume what we need.
We promote homemade products and showcase food created without generating plastics. All of the leftovers given to our animals, buried in our compost, or used to create green gasses. All fresh items, such as meats and fish, are sourced from local farmers, with all produce coming from local organic farms. Our system makes Corregidor island’s young tourism industry sustainable. It will continuously generate more jobs and put food on their tables.
Compost toilets
Without the need to flush, compost toilets use the natural processes of evaporation and decomposition to recycle human waste without destroying all pathogens. Also called as “dry toilets,” compost toilets use carbon additives like peat moss, coconut coir, or sawdust to promote aerobic decomposition. The result? It improves the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio and reduces odor.

Beach Coastal Clean up
The Circle is located in a pristine island, and we wish to maintain its beauty by making sure that our coast is well taken care of. Beach clean ups are not only fun, but it is a good way to preserve marine life. When the tides rise, the water collect items on the beach and take it out on the water.
Organic Farming Workshops
Organic farming promotes practices that improve the fertility and structure of the soil, and it reduces the risk of being exposed to harmful chemicals because of pesticide-free farming. Organic farm visionaries residing in Siargao Island will take part in our movement by sharing their knowledge on how to grow your own food, and practices that you can carry with you wherever you go. Soap making
The unfortunate “sachet economy” in the Philippines is choking up its oceans with tons of plastic trash. Soap making is deemed to be the best solution for this environmental problem. With our soap making programs, you can learn how to make soaps, detergents, shampoo and conditioner bars that fit your personal preference.
